2005 Anthology!

Fri Feb 18, 2005, 9:54 PM
This is an interest thread only. I only want your input at this time.

I'm looking at options to publishing another anthology. And I'm looking for new authors.

The authors would be paid royalties, and would not have to pay anything to be published, and depending on the publishing house might even get a free book of their own.

I'll be pursuing traditional publishing house, I will be the organizer/editor of the project. And I will be financing all contacts, copy, postage, etc for the book through my business.

This is for a professional level published book. Open to everyone - and you, the authors, will be required to work and edit and bring their stories up to a publishing level. If you are not willing to put forth weeks or even months into this project, simply don't waste my time or the publishers. If you are underage you MUST get parental consent, as you will be required to release your name and address to the publisher and me.

Original non-published work only. That includes not being published on the net or dA. Stories are a min 3,000 words and max 7,500 words. All stories must be as near print ready as the writer is capable of producing. Obvious structure, spelling, punctuation will automatically be rejected (it’s called slush for a reason people). Only the final possible works will be given a full editorial critique by me.

If you think this is spam/scam you are wrong. My last anthology was put together last year and all proceeds are being donated to charity for cancer research in the US and UK. You can find the book on bn.com and amazon.com "A Clear Horizon - edited by JoEllen Drazan". Many of the authors in that anthology are professional writers and published in their own right.

So this is an interest thread. If there is enough interest - I may go ahead with a series of books.

What say you?

"Obvious structure, spelling, punctuation will automatically be rejected (it’s called slush for a reason people)."

I take it that you mean obvious structure, spelling, and punctuation mistakes?

(And I ended up buying the anthology from Amazon - it's very good, although I see the occasional missed word [which could simply be mistakes in my copy].)

Since time is a slippery beast these days, I will have to repress my urge to scream "YES! YES, I WANT TO DO THIS!"

HOWEVER! I will be posting the link to this journal on my page, and perhaps spamming writers with it. (And have you noted ~FantasyWritersUnited with this?)

One other thought that I had - did you consider posting a thread to the fantasy forum?

Yep,

Just doing this during my break at work. Limited time = limited posts. And the obvious miskakes ;)

Eventually over the next few days the posts will reach all areas.

Thanks for your interest.

I'd be interested...have something I've been working on for a while and was hoping to get published eventually. Keep me posted....

Hey, I wasn't aware you were still active :-) I am interested, I appreciate your initiative, and I'd like to learn more about the project. For example, what are the genre restrictions?

I'm interested. The only problem is that I am an Australian living in Australia. Would this be too much of an obstacle to overcome, should my writing be up to standard?
